The process of using film makes me see think, “Is there a story to tell?” Film disciplines the user, asking them to choose compositions and wait patiently for that single moment before it is burnt permanently onto the negative emulsion. And only after developing them, we then get a chance study the image and reflect, “Can I still see the story?”. This allows me to learn about cinematography, where the visual language serves to tell the story rather than the aesthetics of the image.
